Description

This pigeon combines the established Joe Gomes “Sonic” and “Jet” family with the “Julia” and “Lucky Charm” racing lines.

Sire line — “Sonic”, “Jet Sonic” and “Jet”

ZA 2020 GPU 14117 — “SONIC”

Sire of ZA 2025 GPU 1373 · Joe Gomes

The pedigree identifies Sonic as a full brother of “Angel”, whose recorded Afrika Pro Series 2023 results include:

  • 4th Ace Black Jacket
  • 10th Ace Blue Jacket
  • 38th in the Final
  • 36th in Race 10 over 383 km

These are valuable related-family results in a recognized international one-loft racing series.

ZA 2019 GPU 14083 — “JET SONIC”

Paternal family

Listed as the father of Angel with the same Afrika Pro Ace and final-race performance record. This reinforces the presence of established OLR performance in the sire family.

ZA 2016 GPU 154 — “JET”

Older foundation racer and breeder · Joe Gomes

  • 1st SA Club Challenge Million Dollar Race, 2017
  • 9th Hotspot 5, Million Dollar Series, 2017
  • 1st Ace Young Pigeon, BHS, 2018
  • Father to a Sanpo Gold winner for GPU Long Distance, 2018

Dam line — “Julia” and “Lucky Charm”

ZA 2021 OERF 5001 — “JULIA”

Dam of ZA 2025 GPU 1373 · Joe Gomes

Daughter of “Lucky Charm”. It credits Lucky Charm's family with the following Sonskyn Lofts 2019 achievements:

  • 1st Ace Pigeon, Sonskyn Lofts
  • 1st Hotspot, 380 km
  • 2nd Hotspot, 236 km
  • 2nd Short Distance Champion
  • 2nd Middle Distance Champion

ZA 2018 SLM 10271 — “LUCKY CHARM”

Manny De Sousa · maternal family

Lucky Charm is the key performance name on the dam side. The pedigree connects this line to Ace Pigeon honors and hotspot and distance championships at Sonskyn Lofts.

Additional relatives and family breeding evidence

A particularly useful related pigeon is ZA 2025 GPU 5662, “Dolly Dimple”, which was advertised in a Karoo Million OLR auction. Its published listing identifies:

  • Sire: ZA 2020 GPU 14117, “Sonic” — the same sire recorded for ZA 2025 GPU 1373.
  • Dam: ZA 2021 OERF 5001, “Julia” — the same dam recorded for ZA 2025 GPU 1373.
  • Recorded auction result: R3,550 winning bid.

Other notable bloodlines in the pedigree

The lower branches of the supplied pedigree include additional racing and breeding families.

Recorded achievements or significance
ZA 2016 THU 235 — “JULIO” Unofficial Dinokeng Final winner in 2017; the pedigree explains that the ring did not scan and the bird was placed second. Also credited with 1st National SANPO Gold Short Distance and 1st National SANPO Gold Overall in 2019.
“LUCKY CHARM” descendants Sonskyn Lofts 2019 Ace and hotspot results, as detailed above.
Jos Thoné / “GUYLIAM” family The pedigree includes a direct “GUYLIAM” reference and records 1st Provincial Montauban and 1st Provincial Libourne for the named ancestor. These are European provincial achievements, not results of the subject pigeon.
“MIR MARY” Identified as the dam of Angel, linking the maternal side of the Sonic family to a documented AfrikaPro performer.

The SANPO and Dinokeng references provide South African national and OLR context, while the AfrikaPro results and Jos Thoné bloodline provide an international dimension.

  • Recognised sire family: Sonic is linked to Angel, with recorded AfrikaPro Ace and final-race achievements.
  • Established foundation blood: Jet is recorded as a Million Dollar Race winner and a successful breeder.
  • Performance on the dam side: Julia descends from the Lucky Charm family, with recorded Ace and hotspot honours.
